Pam Yelverton
I'm just a small town girl who has written a ghost/horror story.
In addition to writing, I am also a photographer.
It's a tale from way back, told to my father-in-law by his Mom. Three people so far,
that I have talked to have heard of "Bloody Bones". These are people
from their 50's to their 80's who heard about "Bloody Bones" when they
were little and they stayed out in the yard too long at night or ventured to
close to open wells when there wasn't any going to the kitchen for a drink of
water. They were told that if they didn't get back into the house or stay away
from those wells that Bloody Bones was going to get them. I heard the
tale from my husband of 19 years, but we had never heard where Bloody Bones came from.
With a little embellishment, we created a fiction story of where Bloody
Bones may have come from.
These tales were told during a time when the
only entertainment was sitting around at night telling scary tales. No tv's or
video games, just family gathered around to talk to one another, which is so
seldom done anymore.
I grew up on a tobacco farm here in Eastern
North Carolina and love the area so much that I can't leave. I do live near a
town called Eureka even though none of the people I've written about in the book
are real. I'm 37 and married my high school sweetheart and we don't have any
children, just a cat-Miss Kitty Yelverton and a horse, Bubba.
I wanted to preserve these tales (as there are more to come after this one) for my nieces and nephews.
